| Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. POCHOLO CONCEPCION |
LONDON—Samsung Electronics has taken a lead from its competitors with
 constant upgrades to see what more can be done to push mobile phones,
cameras, tablets and PCs to astonishing levels with the media launch of
nine new products held June 19 at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre here
 in London.
The event, attended by hordes of journalists from around the
globe, Samsung executives and industry partners, formally unveiled the
following gadgets:
Galaxy NX, the first 3G/4G LTE-connected compact system camera;
Galaxy S4 zoom, the first smartphone to offer 10x optical zoom;

Galaxy S4 Active, designed for rugged, outdoor use;
Galaxy S4 mini, a compact version of the original S4;
Ativ Q, a tablet which allows Android apps to be accessed from a Windows-based PC;
Ativ Tab 3, the world’s thinnest Windows 8 tablet;

Ativ One 5 Style, an all-in-one desktop PC with full-HD touchscreen.
Guests crowded around each of the product displays to get a
hands-on demo. They marveled at the NX’s interchangeable lens, “a first
in the world,” with Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing users to immediately
share their photos online.
We particularly liked the S4 Zoom which tremendously improves the
 smartphone’s capacity to focus on a camera subject up to 10 times,
another “first in the world.”
The S4 Active, meanwhile, is water- and dust-proof, although it
can sustain up to only 30 minutes of submersion in water at a depth of
one meter. But the live demo was impressive enough, as guests dunked the
 phone in water and turned the power on with no damage.
No details were provided on when all the products will be available in the Philippines.
