Kanye West Debuts 'American Psycho'-Inspired Clip During 'Yeezus' Listening Session
Rap superstar Kanye West, being the innovative artist that he is, delivered another novel way of promoting his new album "Yeezus by debuting an "American Psycho"-inspired short film during the album's listening session in Los Angeles on Friday night, June 14. The two-minute clip was projected on the facade of L.A.'s Milk Studios, the screening method applied by Kanye for his single "New Slaves", the first track to be released from the said LP.
For the short cinematic project shot in Brooklyn earlier this month, Kanye clearly had the support of girlfriend Kim Kardashian, who used her family connections by tapping brother-in-law Scott Disick and very close friend Jonathan Cheban for the acting gig. Scott and Jonathan are regulars on the reality TV show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" along with Kim and her big family.
Recreating a scene from Mary Harron's psychological thriller based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel, Scott and Jonathan portray the roles of serial killer Patrick Bateman and his victim. In Kanye's version, Scott as Bateman delivers his spiel on "Yeezus" instead of the original's Huey Lewis and the News before hacking his hapless victim with an axe.
Kanye's aggressive promotion for his "Yeezus" album has reached a momentary slowdown in light of the recent birth of his and Kim's first child. Born several weeks ahead of her due date, Kimye's baby daughter arrived over the weekend in Los Angeles, as revealed by Kim's sister Khloe Kardashian on Twitter.
