FUT Minna Matriculates 4,808 Students For 2015/2016 Session


The Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, on Thursday matriculated 4,808 students out of 8,427 candidates who passed its Post- UTME screening and qualified to be admitted.
The Vice Chancellor of FUT Minna, Professor Musbau Adewumi Akanji, made the disclosure at the school’s auditorium during the matriculation ceremony of the new students.

Akanji revealed that as one of the few specialized universities established 30 years ago by the Federal Government, the institution remains committed to the training of skilled and innovative workforce that would transform Nigeria’s natural resources into goods and services.
The VC revealed that most students failed their examinations because they were used to short text messages on phones which they used during exams.
“We not only seek to achieve academic excellence but also moral uprightness of our students, we believe that such holistic approach in our training is very imperative and pertinent to employment in the present job market that is becoming even more saturated, ” he said.
He gave the assurance that the university had put in place dedicated faculty members, staff advisers, counselors and staff who are eager to offer the needed assistance, to facilitate good teaching and learning environment.
The VC further advised the students to desist from cultism, indecent dressing, exam malpractices and other misdemeanor in and outside the campus, as the school will not hesitate to withdraw anyone found wanting.
A total of 12,529 candidates applied to the institution through Direct Entry and Post- UTME examinations.
